Is adventure travel compatible with doing good and displaying social responsibility? Voluntary services to tourism that are also adventure-packed are growing in popularity. In particular, tour operators are offering tourists more and more projects that directly involve working with children, for example teaching in schools. However, the increasingly commercial nature of these voluntary services brings the demands of paying tourists to the fore, while it is unclear to what degree local residents actually benefit.
