In an interview Majda Rozina Dolenc, director of the Slovenian Tourist Board in Germany, gives a positive assessment of the Convention & Culture partner at the ITB Berlin Convention 2017. The main aim of promoting awareness and Slovenia’s image in the B2B market was fully achieved.
How did your participation as Convention & Culture Partner at the ITB Berlin Convention 2017 go?What results did you achieve?
The green heart of Europe is inhabited by many people with green hearts. This was evident during a debate at the ITB Berlin Convention, where environmental activists and tourism decision-makers discussed ways in which the world’s first green destination could continue to develop in the future. The debate began with a review of the current situation: with sixty per cent of the countryside protected and with a basic right to clean drinking water that is even stipulated by the country’s constitution, Slovenia is already showing the way.
Geopolitical crises and disasters, travel safety risks and artificial intelligence will be the main topics at the ITB Berlin Convention 2017. Over the course of four days and 200 sessions 400 speakers will highlight the current challenges facing the tourism industry.
Cities of culture and the country’s colourful history will be the focus of the ITB Berlin Convention
At the ITB Berlin Convention this green land will be showcasing its cultural and natural attractions to trade visitors at the world's leading travel trade show. On the stand of this small country, a member of the EU, at ITB Berlin 2017 the main theme will also be Slovenia’s ‘cities of culture’. In particular, Slovenia is promoting sustainable tourism and activities in nature. This year the capital Ljubljana received the European Green Capital Award.
