On the stand of the city on the Rhine visitors can undertake VR excursions to find out about Cologne from a bygone age
In keeping with the current virtual reality trend, since September 2017 TimeRide has been providing another attraction on Cologne’s Alter Markt, taking a look at the history of the city. Here in the heart of the city the latest virtual reality makes it possible to go back to the 20th century, enabling visitors to experience life as it was back then. One example is a journey through the old city in a tram from more than 100 years ago, with a 360-degree panoramic view. The experience is intensified by the inclusion of various haptic elements such as vibrations and the flow of air. To complete the experience participants will be taken back in time by means of an exhibition of 3D photos, with reminders of the attractions that would have been available around 1910, and a cinematic introduction to the urban history of Cologne.
Details about TimeRide will also be presented at ITB Berlin. The company’s representatives will be present on the Cologne tourism office’s stand, No. 103c in Hall 8.2, with information for visitors to the fair.
