The 9th Accessible Tourism Day is taking place from 10.20 am to 3:30 pm on Friday, 12 March 2021 in addition to the ITB NOW congress (online).
The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) expects again international visitors to attend the “9. Accessible Tourism Day”, including representatives from politics, the international travel industry, destination marketing organisations, associations, universities and the media.
This year, the event will focus on how tourism experiences can be made possible for people with disabilities, even in times of a pandemic, and on the associated opportunities and challenges for tourism providers and destination management organizations (DMOs).
The high priority that barrier-free tourism enjoys in Germany is underscored by the participation of Thomas Bareiß, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy and Federal Government Commissioner for Tourism and for SMEs, and Jürgen Dusel, Federal Government Commissioner for Matters relating to People with Disabilities.
The keynote speaker will be Neha Arora, founder of the Indian travel company Planet Abled, which specializes in the needs of people with disabilities and older travelers, and an expert in barrier-free travel.
The event is being funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
