Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) 2015 in Chile

For those interested in finding out more about Chile, Hall 1.1 at ITB Berlin is the place to be. There, visitors can obtain information on more than 20 tourism companies and destinations such as Valparaíso, Araucanía, Aysén and Magallanes in Patagonia. As a country that boasts ten UNESCO-protected biosphere reserves, and with nature reserves and national parks making up almost a fifth of the country’s surface area, Chile is a nature paradise for adventure tourists. That is why the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) chose Chile to host the Adventure Travel World Summit which is due to take place in Puerto Varas from 5 to 9 October 2015. More than 700 delegates from sixty countries, including tour operators, representatives of trade publications and various destinations, will have an opportunity to exchange views, attend courses and take part in tours.
Besides having been voted the adventure tourism destination for 2015 Chile is a culturally fascinating country, due to its many indigenous populations, the Aymara in the north, the Mapuche to the south of the country’s central region, and the Rapa Nui on Easter Island. Also not to be missed will be a wine tasting tour of one of the eleven valleys in the wine-growing region.
The international media have praised the country’s attractions. TripAdvisor, for example, ranked Santiago de Chile second among its top ten tourism destinations in South America. The New York Times described Valle del Elqui as one of the best places to go in 2015 and Travel + Leisure Magazine declared Chile a must-visit destination in 2015.
