Malaysia hopes for more visitors with Singapore Airlines

This is the 46th time that Singapore is taking part in ITB Berlin, which underlines the economic importance of tourism in the city-state. As one of the world’s most popular tourism destinations, Malaysia is full of attractions: pristine beaches, spectacular islands, a rich cultural heritage, an outstanding tourism infrastructure as well as nature reserves with a wealth of flora and fauna. Malaysia also enjoys global popularity due to its shopping opportunities: in 2012 CNN Travel voted Kuala Lumpur the world’s fourth-best city for shopping. In the corresponding survey Malaysia’s capital came out ahead of Paris, Hong Kong and Dubai and was beaten only by New York, Tokyo and London.

At ITB Berlin 2016 close to 50 organisations are highlighting Malaysia’s wide range of tourism attractions on a large combined display. “It is extremely important for us to be in direct contact with potential visitors from Germany, Switzerland and Austria. What better way to do so than by visiting ITB Berlin 2016?“, said Mohamed Amin, director of Tourism Malaysia in Frankfurt. In order to offer visitors from central Europe even better travel options, at ITB Berlin 2016 a special cooperation agreement was signed with Singapore Airlines. At present there are two flights daily from Frankfurt and one from Munich to Singapore, as well as good connecting flights to popular destinations in Malaysia: Sabah, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi. The aim is to further expand this network. Malaysian Airways ceased direct flights to Frankfurt in spring 2015.
