Mexico City: cultural metropolis with world-class restaurants

According to the New York Times, there is one place you absolutely must visit in 2016: Mexico City.  In a ranking done by the renowned newspaper of 52 places to see in 2016, Mexico City came in at number one.  At ITB Berlin on Friday, Magda Sanchez of Mexico City Tourism Trust named a whole number of reasons why it is worthwhile to head to the Mexican capital.  There are more than 150 museums and over 100 art galleries in the city, with four UNESCO World Heritage Sites coming soon.

The MICE business is also significant and the city has four world-class standard conference centres with a total of 420,000 square metres of space for events of various kinds.  "Mexico City is one of the TOP 10 destinations for conventions and conferences in the Americas," Sanchez reported.  Excellent accessibility, among other things, speaks for Mexico City – the city has the most important airport in Latin America when it comes to the number of daily flights – as does the year-round pleasant climate, with an average temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius.

Additionally, assured Magda Sanchez, Mexico City is one of the most exciting and interesting places in the world to go out to eat.  Now three restaurants in the city can be found on the S. Pellegrino list of the world's 50 best restaurants: Pujol, Biko and Quintonil.  "We offer outstanding gastronomy, we have history and culture and we are both modern and cosmopolitan at the same time," says Magda Sanchez.  And so there are many reasons to follow the New York Times' recommendation and pay a visit to Mexico City in 2016.
