Japan recorded 30 million visitors for the first time in 2018, almost nine per cent more than the record-breaking year before. “We are on the right path towards reaching 40 million arrivals in 2020 when the Summer Olympics take place in Tokyo. Though most visitors come from neighbouring Asian countries, especially China and South Korea, significantly more Germans, 215,300 (+10.1 per cent), visited the land of the rising sun as well.
Tour operator Japaventura, specialising in authentic, sustainable travel experiences, presented itself at ITB Berlin 2019. In small groups, travellers can immerse themselves in the village life of the local population. This includes overnighting with a Japanese family, tea time with locals, a course in calligraphy, or a short stay with Buddhist monks on Mount Kōya. The entire Japaventura team knows the country from their own experience.
ITB Berlin 2019 is the ideal opportunity to learn about new offerings before the Summer Olympics next year. This includes highlights like the new cruise terminal, the digital arts museum or the recently relocated Toyosu fish market in Tokyo, caravan or off-road tours through the entire country, or private cruises on chartered catamarans in the Seto Inland Sea.
