A new internet platform designed to attract more visitors to Mongolia was presented at ITB Berlin for the first time. The website, www.Mongolia.travel, will be launched within the next few days. It aims to create individual travel routes for visitors that are tailored to their thematic and regional wishes and then presented as an interactive experience. Special attention will be paid to travellers visiting Mongolia for the first time.
“Mongolia.travel offers a platform for local businesses and communities as well,” added Mongolian Minister of Environment and Tourism Namsrai Tserenbat. Topic pages also provide information on festivals, activities, nature, and history, as well as visas, transportation, climate, and much more.
Mongolia hit the 500,000-visitor mark in 2018 and remains on an uptrend that brought in 35 per cent more foreign tourists over the past six years – mainly from China, Russia, and South Korea. The least populated country on Earth hopes to count 700,000 visitors by 2020, resulting in around 465 million Euro in sales over the next ten years.
Investments in tourism will also be increased to almost 900 million Euro by 2028. International chains such as Shangri-La, Best Western, and Holiday Inn have already opened properties in Mongolia in recent years.
