New Zealand: Dining like Frodo Baggins

Hobbiton Tours

The Hobbiton Movie Set tour is a visitor experience based at the original location where Hobbiton was created for the filming of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ films. With the release of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ in December 2012, the focus of New Zealand tourism was once again upon the landscapes of the country and their transformation into Middle-earth.
Hobbiton Movie Set is the only remaining set in New Zealand and provides the opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in a landscape that has now become recognised around the world. At ITB Berlin the now incorporated ‘The Green Dragon™ Inn and Mill’ as an integral part of the tours will be presented. Guests now have the opportunity to step inside the Inn and sample Hobbitons exclusive ‘Hobbit™ Southfarthing™’, brewed in Hamilton. The interior of ‘The Green Dragon’ is a step back in time. There are handcrafted leather chairs in front of a crackling open fire and a view across the lake to the Mill and Bag End. In the dining room a banquet feast fit for a Hobbit is waiting. The tables will be full of traditional Hobbit fare and as is the tradition in the Shire, second helpings are encouraged.
