A diverse culture, big northern lights display and the Travel Blog of the Year award represent Norway at ITB Berlin this year
An established nature travel destination, Norway is broadening its range of topics with cultural trips and at ITB Berlin will be showing aspects that until now were lesser known abroad. Norway will be represented at its own stand in the Culture Lounge (Hall 16) for the first time. Here Visit Norway will present the Rjukan-Notodden UNESCO Industrial Heritage Site in Telemark and the Peer Gynt Festival in Gudbrandsdal, among other things. Travel packages with themes such as music, film, architecture and cultural history complete their new cultural portfolio.
In Hall 18, where Visit Norway will be represented by a total of 17 destinations, organisers, transportation companies and agencies, weekend visitors will be able to see a northern lights show titled “Blazing Sky” inside a mobile igloo. Through 360° projection the lights seem close enough to touch. To create the northern light experience, presented in cooperation with the Hamburg Planetarium, a film team recorded the phenomenon using a brand-new method on high definition 360° cameras over a period of seven months.
Visit Norway will also appear in the ITB Media Centre (Hall 5.3) as the sponsor of the first Travel Blog of the Year award. The choice of the best travel blog will round off the current distinctions of best travel office and Germany’s best PR agency. The competitions are overseen by media office SRT and the jury is comprised of renowned travel journalists from the German-speaking world.
