VIR announces the finalists of the Sprungbrett Innovators’ Competition

Verband Internet Reisevertrieb e.V. (VIR) has announced the names of the finalists of the  Sprungbrett competition which is due to take place on 24 and 25 June 2015 at the Marshall Haus on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Startups and established companies will be competing with their innovative concepts for a prize that rewards the best business ideas.

This year, in the ‘Startups’ category, five finalists will be competing for the coveted award. Naturtrip has targeted the growing interest in eco-mobility and is developing an online portal that will make it possible for holidaymakers to choose the best holiday routes without using a car. Retravel aims to find travellers for unused travel bookings and exploit the resultant business potential.

Also among the finalists is Hotel Beacons with their concept: so-called iBeacons recognise guests as they enter a hotel or restaurant so that staff can welcome them with individual services. The Beach Inspector is a useful navigation tool. This platform for beach holidaymakers makes recommendations depending on people’s favourite beaches. Distribusion Technologies aims to satisfy the growing demand for long-distance coach travel. The company has established the first global distribution system for this booming market.

Six finalists will be contesting the ’Established’ category. Wirecard will be competing with a credit card payment method that enables seamless transactions between OTAs and organisers. UNIQ GmbH will also be taking part with its portal Urlaubsguru.de. TravelTainment GmbH will be in the race with the TT HotelMatcher, a module for the smartphone IBE that lets users pre-select hotels.

Campanda also has a chance of claiming the award. This company rents out commercially operated and privately owned motorhomes that are not being used. SECRA Bookings GmbH is competing with its FeWO Channelmanager product which provides the holiday apartment market with what is already normal in the hotel trade: a back end for all relevant portals, along with online booking options. Last but not least Expedia is competing with its product on the MICE market. This enables hotels to automatically advertise their availability so that interested organisers of groups and meetings can make a booking in real time. The ’Established’ category is under the patronage of the tourism magazine fvw.
