Guyana features a Brand Card and virtual media meet-up at ITB Berlin NOW on strategies for re-opeing tourism
On its way to successfully restarting tourism which has suffered due to the coronavirus pandemic, the South American country Guyana has announced big steps. In addition to its Brand Card, on Thursday, 11 March at 7 p.m. at a virtual media meet-up, representatives will have information on the latest developments at this virtual event. Journalists can register here: www.travelmarketing.de/guyana-itb-gettogether.
Guyana, which is pursuing a soft, eco-oriented approach towards increasing international visitor numbers, has implemented a set of measures in recent weeks and months aiming to ensure maximum health safety for travellers and hosts. In addition to information campaigns, courses and training measures organised by the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), together with organisations including the National COVID-19 Task Force the GTA has developed and implemented a two-stage process for re-opening tourist facilities.
Thus, providers must first present the GTA with a list of measures taken to meet higher hygiene standards and service processes. Subsequently, inspections are undertaken locally by a team including representatives of the national health authority. www.guyanatourism.com
