Youth hostels in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern present their travel catalogue

In 2018 youth hostels belonging to the German Youth Hostel Association (DJH) in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are publishing their first family travel catalogue.

Families play an important role in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In association with the youth hostels of the German Youth Hostel Association (DJH) the partner region of the ITB Berlin 2018 has produced a brand-new family catalogue with travel offers for the whole year, including off-season periods. The youth hostel in the Hanseatic town of Greifswald has travel offers for family members of all ages, for example. The ’More time with grandpa and grandma’ package includes full board accommodation for four nights, a rallye through the town, admission to the toy museum and zoo, and leisure time for handicrafts with each other.

At the environmentally friendly family youth hostel in Born-Ibenhorst on the peninsula of Darss-Zingst, a fishing paradise, families can spend a relaxing weekend away together, instead of a long holiday, and can also help protect the environment. As part of a weekend programme called ’Cleaning up the woods and meadows’ families can take an excursion to the beach, collect hard plastic rubbish and learn about marine pollution playing informative games on the beach. The flotsam they collect is then used to create new objects together. The idea is to draw children’s attention to waste problems in a creative manner and make them aware of their own actions. An additional offer of full board for two nights and full day care targets families with children from the age of six.
