The Youth Travel Hall comes of age – Youth Travel 4.0
What new trends are there, what does the future of tourism hold, what direction will the industry take? Those are the issues that ITB Berlin will be debating, and which in my view make it so indispensable. This year I also find it fascinating to be able to look back, and for a very special reason. After 18 years the Youth Travel Hall has come of age. Happy anniversary!
As someone who also helped to launch it I am very proud. It was great fun helping it on its way and watching it flourish. The results are impressive.
Definitive exhibition of tourism products in a unique atmosphere
It goes without saying that the DZT is a regular exhibitor at ITB Berlin. The World’s Leading Travel Trade Show and the National Tourist Board of one of Europe’s most popular travel destinations simply belong together. ITB Berlin is the definitive exhibition showcasing global tourism in our time. And in combination with the ITB Berlin Convention it acts as a barometer of future trends.
… an additional hall for the eTravel World at ITB Berlin 2017. Beyond Travel Technology itself, and driven in large part by enthusiasm, e-commerce, e-mobility, e-tickets and e-books have become the fastest-growing segment at ITB Berlin.
I am hoping for satisfied exhibitors and visitors, innovative products for tomorrow’s tourism industry, and positive meetings.
Focused business partners and interesting subjects
The German Tourism Association has always been a regular exhibitor at ITB. Today, no one really knows anymore whether we attended as an association when the show first began. Whatever the case, our members have always exhibited in large numbers, because German travel destinations attract the majority of tourists. That was so in 1961 and has remained so ever since. However, it is only as a result of recent widespread reporting that many now realise that Germans prefer to holiday in their home country.
Safety & Security - a complex topic no one should ignore
What news are you bringing to ITB Berlin 2017?
Travelzoo will be presenting the findings of a global research campaign about how consumers feel about safety and security in travel. Travelzoo colaborated with a leading UK Tourism University and Norstat research results from over 6000 consumers from the leading travel markets including Europe, Japan, South Africa, India and North America.
Tourism brings the world together rather than apart
Which news am I bringing to ITB?
Since last May we are pushing tourism forward again to regain our position within Africa as premier safari destination. We just have been named as must visit destination by National Geographic and hope that many traveller will follow this advice. Our country hosts the largest mountain Gorilla population with 440 primates and the very good news is that the population is slowly growing again. We just had five gorilla babies born since Sep last year.
